Frequently Asked DoggyCheckQuestions

Q        What does a color change of DoggyCheck™ indicate?

A       Depending on the type of the DoggyCheck test used:

DoggyCheck  1 - Blue color = indicates presence of blood in dog's urine

DoggyCheck  2 Blue-purple color = your dog's urine is alkaline  - your dog may have urinary infection and stones

DoggyCheck 3Pink-red color = your dog's urine is highly acidic - your dog may have dietary imbalance

Color change other than the color on the respective color chart in the Procedure section should be disregarded.  Any color change with DoggyCheckalong with certain behaviors (such as straining to urinate, urinating small amounts frequently, reluctance to play or jump, depression, and lethargy) may indicate a potential disorder that might require attention of your veterinarian.

Q        Is DoggyCheckappropriate for all kinds of dogs?

A       DoggyCheck was specially designed for house-bound dogs that are trained to use litter or newspapers.  It may be used for rescued and boarded dogs that are using litter or newspapers.

Q        Should I take my dog to a veterinarian if I see a color change with DoggyCheck?

A       Not necessarily.  If your dog is already on a special diet or treatment regimen, DoggyCheck will help you monitor your dog's condition.  If you are unsure of your dog's condition, it is always advisable to consult a licensed veterinarian.

Q      Can I use more than one DoggyCheck packet with the same litter?

A        No.  Each of the DoggyCheck packets should be used separately with fresh litter or newspapers.  Combining the DoggyCheck packets will give you  inaccurate results.

Q         Is DoggyChecksafe for my dog?

A        DoggyCheck is scientifically designed and formulated to ensure the safety of both your pet and you.

Q         How often should I use DoggyCheck?

A        As with any proactive testing, DoggyCheckshould be repeated as often as possible.

Q         What should I do if I have more than one dog?

A         The best solution is to isolate the dog-under-suspicion, unless you can observe your dog urinating in the shared litter box and check DoggyCheck test pieces immediately for color change.  To reduce the stress of your dog, limit the isolation to the times when the dog typically uses the litter box/newspaper: after feeding and drinking.

Q      Can DoggyCheck be left in the litter box (or on the newspaper) for longer than seven days?

A         No. The accuracy of the test will decrease after seven days.  If you are not sure in the outcome, repeat the test if necessary.

Q      What litter should I use with DoggyCheck?

A      DoggyCheck can be used with dog litters and newspapers.  Do not add baking soda, as it interferes with the outcome of several DoggyCheck tests.
