Kidney stones in cats are not as common as Bladder StonesStones might form in one kidney (unilateral) or both kidneys (bilateral).  The formation of stones in kidneys can be caused by the following factors usually working together:

*       Infection

*       Inappropriate diet changing urine to acidic (low pH) or alkaline (high   pH)

*      Diseases

*       Family history

Typical symptoms include:

  *       Abdominal pain

*       Kidney enlargement

*       Straining to urinate

*       Blood in urine

*       Loss of appetite, depression and fever
