Cystitis is an inflammation of cat's bladder. It is not clear what causes cystitis. It is possible that the following factors contribute to this condition: infection, bladder stones (they might irritate the bladder wall), polyps, tumors, anatomical defects such as tiny pockets in the bladder wall (diverticuli).
Typical symptoms include:
Straining to urinate
Blood in urine
Difficulty urinating
Frequent trips to the litter box
Failure to use litter box and urinating in unusual places
Crying when urinating or licking genital area excessively
Occasional leaking urine
